Immersion Assembly - as i see it

Term 2, first day back at school. Speeding into the hall straight away seeing Mr Jacobsen wearing a humongous paint palette and a giant paint brush hat. I knew that it was going to be an awesome assembly.

To kick off the assembly the Team 1 teachers played a movie about all of their favourite things. The song they played in the background really suited Team 1’s focus for this term, their song was Favourite Things sung by Julie Andrews.

After the movie Ms George gave out mouth watering chocolates to children who could remember a few of the things that the teachers liked.

Team 2’s item reminded me of all of the seasons. This term Team 2 is looking at the different seasons. Each class will focus on one season.

Team 3’s item was the second best. Team 3 had a movie based on the show Grand Designs. It showed the teachers out on the patch of grass outside Room 3 putting up their dream house (A tent) Mr Blakely was playing the role of the man who interviews the people building houses. The rest of the Team 3 teachers were playing the owner of the house (The tent) A conversation about architecture started, that’s when Team 3 introduced their topic for this term. Architecture.

Team 4 is going to have a blast this term with the Teacher-vengers! Team 4 made a comic book type movie as their focus this term is making comics. Team 4’s movie was a creative piece of work that made everyone laugh and giggle. I know that Team 4 will be making some pretty awesome comics this term.

To finish off the Immersion Assembly Team 5 had our item about the 4 waka. The 4 waka are our school houses Hokule’a, Hikianalia, Hine Moana and Te Aurere. Each teacher represented their house as they had a race across the stage in each of their made up waka. Mrs Tele’a represented Hine Moana and was wearing a fruit box while making tiny baby steps to get to the other side of the stage. Miss Berry represented Te Aurere with a small paddle and tried to scoot on her butt to the other side. Ms Saddler represented Hikianalia and used a sheep skin carpet and tried to push the carpet along the way while she was on it. Ms Garden had a jumping sack that she hopped all the way to the other side before Mrs Tele’a.

The immersion assembly was full with many laughs and awesome costumes. I am excited for the term of art and creativity ahead. Our term topic as i see it is going to be an awesome topic.

Book Review: Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School

As I write this piece of writing I keep wasting time thinking about all the food that I’m going to buy, instead of thinking about the ways to go and which direction my hands need to be in.

Today is Fiafia eve. To be honest I’m not that nervous but I know what I’m like, I’ll act all confident and then when my group gets called I’ll freak out and try to hide. I know I’ll be fine though.

This is my first Fiafia. Well being in a group, for the past three years I have come to watch my best friend Lucy. I always love coming to Fiafia to eat the delicious food that families from the school set up.

The thing that I look forward to buying the most is Cook Island donuts.

This year I chose to be in the Niuean group. I chose the Niuean group because I am Niuean and I knew it would be a small group, and I don’t like being in large groups of children. I am so happy that I chose Niuean group because our dance is sweet and short.

There are many different groups in Fiafia I can’t name them all. Obviously there will be the normal groups like Samoan, Tongan, Kapa Haka, Cook Island and Hip Hop.

The thing that I am looking forward to most is that the girls get to wear lipstick!!! I am a humongous fan of lipstick. My favourite type of lipstick is matte! Which is why I'm going to be wearing my favourite  red matte lipstick.

In about an hours time all of the groups will be heading to the court for one big walk through, I think it will be a dress rehearsal. I brought my white shirt and my lipstick today. I am hoping that it will be a full dress rehearsal so I can wear my lipstick. I just have one rule! No one else can wear my lipstick but me.

Today is the real deal. Fiafia is tonight and I’ll be performing on the big stage in front of so many people. My group has already gone through our last run through practice on the stage. I am so looking forward to the food and performances. I am also looking forward to wearing lipstick! As I said before I love lipstick. But today I did get a little bit nervous. All the other girls in my group aren’t really into makeup like I am, they made it sound like it could kill you! Some girls asked Ms Lagitupu if we had to wear lipstick. My heart sank. Ms Lagitupu said “No we’re not wearing makeup!” I replied that Miss Lavakula said the we could. After a little discussion Ms Lagitupu said its alright if we come tonight with a little lippy on as long as it looked neat and tidy. My heart finally rose back up, I was so relieved!

I am pretty calm right now about Fiafia, I know I’ll do great!

This is a last minute movie that my friend and I made for extension. We have been working on this task for 5 weeks now, but my friend and I made this movie this week. This movie is about the Point England way and what we do here at Point England school. ENJOY!!!

Mr. Corny strolled through the forest late in the afternoon. Mr. Corny was searching high and low for a new love interest to grow old with, as he was a lonely manacorn. (Male unicorn)

Mr.Corny’s hooves were becoming brittle after walking all over the island’s forests jagged rocky ancient foot paths. In the near distance he could see a bright orange bob hairstyle sitting on a pink piano bench. He gallopped over as fast as  Usain Bolt would sprint. Mr. Corny had a delightful view of an adorable young girl, slowly swiveling gazing behind her to see Mr. Corny.

Mr. Corny’s jaw dropped to the ground as he puked rainbows. While he puked rainbows, next to him was a mocking human using the puking rainbow filter on Snapchat mocking Mr. Corny. Mr. Corny didn’t find it very humorous, he shot him an evil look before he picked the tourist up by the back of his collar flying across the forest like a George of the jungle smack BANG! Right into an old Kauri tree.

Mr. Corny took a big breath as he slowly stumbled towards the young girl. Her eyes twinkled at Mr. Corny he gazed at her while she laid her fingers upon the piano keys... Mr. Corny was prepared for a song from an angel from high above... He stood for a moment waiting for her song of love and affection towards him. Her mouth slowly opened then…

AAAAHHH!

That was no angel! She was obliterating all of the lovely wildlife! Mr. Corny was mortified at the sound of a Tasmanian Devil affection song! Mr. Corny hurried out of that forest as faster than a cheetah. Not knowing that the little Tasmanian Devil was hot on his tail. She pounced up on to his back. He managed to buck the Devil of his back.

She suddenly made Mr. Corny’s world transform into a nightmare. Ginormous AMPS came rising fast out of the ground! He was surrounded with no way to escape. He turned in circles, there were no gaps. Mr. Corny scanned around him to see if he could spot the little girl, he looked up onto the mountain high speakers to see her with a D.J. mixing kit and a microphone. A bit of rainbow puke dribbled from his mouth.

AAAAHHH!

It was even worse! Along with her horrifying voice she added dubstep dance music to it. Mr. Corny’s brain was being filled with dark rain clouds and evil clowns he was overheating, Mr. Corny was ferocious... MR. CORNY HAD ENOUGH! He used all of his unicorn sparkles within him and flew to the top of the AMP. Mr. Corny gave the D.J. kit a hard kick! The little girl’s drink tipped onto the console. With raspberry soda pop all over the D.J. console the whole entire circle of speakers blew up high into the sky!

Dust flowing through the air around them. Mr. Corny shook the layer of dust off his back. He searched around for the girl to find her laying by a broken speaker. He galloped quickly to lay by her side. She awoken from the explosion.

“Why did you do that for? Those were my grandmothers.” Cried the young girl, making Mr. Corny feel ashamed and embarrassed. “My name is Andrea, I just wanted to sing you a song.” Poor little Andrea trudged along heading back to Candyland.

Mr. Corny felt extremely sorry. So he crept off... He caught back up to Andrea, he gave her a wink and a huge grin. He had found ear plugs to stop her ‘singing’ rattling his brain. She suddenly had the biggest smile that could light up a whole town. Andrea leaped like a frog up on to Mr. Corny’s fury dusty back. She sang her song of affection towards Mr.Corny once again, although this time Mr. Corny did not have a problem with her Tasmanian Devil voice. He loved her more than life.

For the past two years little Andrea started taking Ms. Suzy’s soulful singing classes. At first Andrea almost made Ms. Suzy deaf, Ms. Suzy then had a coffee and hay with Mr. Corny. He then exchanged the number of his guy that supplies him with his ear plugs. Andrea then became the best singer in the whole of

Daisy has been missing for ten years now. Well to her parents she had been
She went missing the day of her tenth birthday.

Daisy had been playing outside with her older brother Carlos. They both frolicked in the long wavy green grass in the meadow, everything was perfect. To Daisy, a day with not a cloud in the sky meant that day was going to be a good day. But all of her happiness was about to make a bad turn.

Her and Carlos were playing hide and seek. Daisy ran away from her brother and came across two old steel doors in the grass, she unfastened the latch, dropped her self in the bunker, she jumped and caught on the handle and pulled it down.

She suddenly felt very cold, she could hear the wind blowing above the doors. She had been in the bunker for a few minutes now.

She opened the door back up and yelled.

“Carlos I’m over here!” She yelled out climbing out the doors. “I guess you’re not the hide and seek master after all!” Daisy looked around she was no longer in the green wavy grass of the meadow. She appeared to be in a dark forest. Daisy didn’t know what to do, she just freaked out! Screaming out for help she her saw a light at the end of the forest.

Daisy was scared she leaped out of the bunker and sprinted towards the light at the end of the forest. She gazed around just three story houses, factories and malls all around. Daisy didn’t have a clue what a mall was. No one did back in her time. Daisy strolled around the town everyone was looking at her, she felt weird. Everyone was wearing designer clothes with sparkles and large spikey shoulder pads. She stuck out like a sore thumb wearing her bright yellow frilly collar dress with flowers around it. Daisy didn’t realise…

SHE TIME TRAVELLED TEN YEARS AHEAD!!!

Daisy sat at the nearest bench she took a minute to take it all in. She could see in the distance a girl who looked vaguely familiar. She marched towards her and asked.

“Excuse me! What year am I in?” Daisy asked a girl walking by.

“Hi my name is Lily. Don’t you know?” She asked. “You’re in the year 2000”

Daisy didn’t know what to say how to react, she went into a state of, well everything. Screaming like something was possessing her, Lily helped her and took her back to her home to cool down.

Later on that afternoon Lily and Daisy got chatting, Daisy became comfortable around Lily and opened up to her of how she thinks she got to Lily’s world.

“Actually Daisy, I have to tell you something” Daisy was nervous she was worried about what she would say next. “I am also from the year 1990, and I know you, and you know me.” Daisy knew it from the minute she saw her. Lily was the girl that she used to play with when she was nine. Lily is a year older than her so Lily played with Daisy when she was ten.

Daisy would wake up early in the morning and run over to Lily's to play with her. One day when Daisy went over to play, but Lily’s house was empty her family had just got up and left. Daisy was never thought much about it, even though she lost her only best friend.

Daisy was so happy to finally see her friend again. After a long talk, argument, discussion fight, it turns out that Lily and Daisy’s family got to the two thousands the same way Daisy did. Well actually Lily arrived in the year 1999. Lily then told her story to Daisy.It all started a day when there was not a cloud in the sky…

Lily, her mum Rose and her dad Rob were going to the pools down the road. Lily tripped on two rock hard steel doors in the ground. Rob was a researcher of back in the olden days, he was keen to open those doors and look around. Rose was keen as well she laid her belongings on the ground and climbed into the bunker with Rob and Lily. All of a sudden the doors above them slammed shut! They all freaked out. Rob pushed the doors back open to discover that they were in a dark forest. Her family did not have an explanation for it, they just learnt how to survive in this new year.  

“Wow that’s an amazing story Lily!” Went on Daisy. Daisy then asked a tough question. “I know you started a new life here, but did you ever want to come back?”

“Of course… I thought about it… But I love the life here!” Lily shouted “There are so many amazing things here! Like this awesome show about crime, called CSI! These really cool electronics branded Apple!” Lily could have gone on forever!

Daisy loved the sound of that and straight away wanted to stay in Lily’s world, but knew that in another world, her parents were waiting for her. Daisy didn’t want to leave Lily, but then again she didn’t want her parents to go through so much grief. Then a she had a lightbulb!

“Well since we’re in the future, wouldn’t my parents be here?” Exclaimed Daisy.

“Awesome idea! We’ll search the web to see if they’re doing anything”

“What’s the web?” Asked a confused Daisy

“I’ll explain later!” Rushed.

After an hour of searching the web for Mr and Mrs Dylan. Until they found a couple that matched their profile… Wait a minute. JUST IN THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR! They ran next door ready to see what Daisy’s parents looked like in the future. Daisy was nervous even though she hadn’t seen them in a few hours, but for her parents in this year, they hadn’t seen her in 10 years. Not knowing what would have changed for her family in ten years.

She walked briskly up to the front door and gave the doorbell a light tap. Her lip quivered, the door opened slowly a her mum opened the door. Her mother Rosalina shot her a big smile. She flung the door opened and whisked Daisy off her feet. Tears streaming from both their eyes Rosalina had tears of joy. She knew that it was her daughter and it wasn’t like any of those movies when the kid comes back and is an alien. She just knew that her daughter was back in her life.

“DAISY”S HOME!” She screeched across the hallway to her husband Naldo (Daisy’s dad) Her dad looked unwell. He ran down the hallway and realized that his little girl has returned home after ten years.

“My baby you’ve returned!” Yelled Naldo. They all had tears streaming down their eyes. Screaming and shouting with joy. The only thing that shocked them was that, well, Daisy looked the exact same way she did the day she went missing.

“Where have you been? What happened were you taken?” Asked Rosalina. Daisy sat with them for hours. Just explaining the way she got ten years ahead. Naldo believed her one hundred percent.

“I’ve heard of cases like this in some of my researches. I’ve even heard of cases when people have travelled back in time.”

“That stuff doesn’t matter now, all that matters is that we have our lovely daughter back and she has to meet her baby brother and sister!” Exclaimed Rosalina. That’s right, not so long ago Rosalina and Naldo had twins. Although another question that was banging around her mind was.

“Mum, dad… Where’s Carlos?” As another tear ran down Rosalina’s eye and her head bowed down, Daisy’s legs turned into jelly. Daisy dropped to her knees, her and Carlos were extremely close and finding out that she lost her brother, was just mind blowing. Daisy didn’t want to find out what happened just yet. She just wanted to meet her new brother and sister.

The family was once again complete sure they didn’t have Carlos but at least they had their dear Daisy back. Rosalina and Naldo always had hope that one day their daughter would walk up to their door step and come back home. Their family was once again complete.

Carlos was out one night with his friends. They were speeding around the cliffs of Waterview Lake until, one of Carlos’ friends who didn’t have his licence got behind the wheel with Carlos in the car. He stomped his foot hard down on the gas, and went clean of the cliff deep down into the lake below. No one in the car survived. They got the car back and had a service in memory of Carlos and Daisy.

(O) Ocean and Nevada are twin sisters. They are 18 years old and are pro’s at diving, swimming, and building. The two have been living on water nearly all their life. Their mum and dad are the famous sailors Shania and Suade Shine, they have sailed the world! Until 18 years ago when they had Ocean and Nevada, they decided that they would both retire from sailing to look after their two little ones. Ocean and Nevada weren’t born on land, they were born on the family's houseboat so they actually had lived on water until they were three.

(It took them so long to go back to their home because they were all the way on the other side of the world) Being back on land the two could not walk. Shania and Suade tried to teach them how to walk on the boat but with the boat always swaying and rocking it was hard because the girls would always fall over.

Back on land Suade got a job as a builder he built everything! For his family. From their house all the way to the girls playroom below the pool, as well as the pool! As the girls grew up building became another passion of theirs.

One scorching hot day when Ocean and Nevada were 12 their mum and dad took them out diving into the clear blue waters of Angel Island. That was the day when Ocean and Nevada came across a small island in the middle of the water. While their parents were not looking the girls swam as fast as they could to get to the island. Gliding onto the island as the water pushed them lightly upon the sand the girls immediately fell in love with the island. 10 coconut trees were in a perfect circle in the middle of the island.

“This island would probably be around 25 square meters” said the brainy side of Ocean.

“Yeah around that Einstein!” Shouted Nevada. “This would be an awesome…” They both chorused “A HIDE OUT!” It would be a perfect idea especially since you can’t see in the circle of the coconut trees from the water, so no one would know it was there.

Every time they went diving or canoeing out with their parents they would sneak pieces of wood, nails, screws and other building supplies in their canoes and bury them in the sand. Surprisingly their parents never had a clue that this was going on.

Throughout the years as they got older they would go out to the island  by themselves and start to construct their hut.

(Starting of main story)

“Come on quick, mum and dad aren’t here so that means we can stay at the island all day!” Chirped Nevada. “Hurry up! The faster we get out there the more we can do.” Nevada continued.

Nevada was up at the crack of dawn filling the canoes with even more building supplies. Shania and Suade's 10th wedding anniversary was in five days, they were planning to take them out to the hut and throw them a romantic dinner. The hut was almost finished

“ Yep my canoe is packed!” Shouted Ocean.

Everything was packed and ready to go. Off they went... The waters were a little uneasy but it was nothing they couldn’t handle.

(P) Working away all through the days Nevada and Ocean were so close to finishing their hut. The only things that were left to do were, add furniture and a few touch ups. Around 12 o’clock the wind kicked up and was starting to blow some of the tarps around like crazy. Nevada climbed up the ladder, marched her way up the stairs, bounced through the trampoline course, bumped her head a few times through the mirror maze and sling shotted herself in the tire swing to get up to the top and tighten the the tarps down.

“Ocean!” Yelled Nevada “The inside is looking pretty good! Furniture and accessories will make it look even better!” Nevada slid down the slide and rested with ocean. They hopped in the water and went for a swim. Splashing around in the clear blue water brought memories back from when they would swim around when they were younger. They started swimming at a very young age.

(Ok sure they didn’t know how to walk until they were three, but they knew how to swim since they were one.)

Time flew by and before they knew it, it was 4 o’clock.

“Oh no we need to get home, mum and dad said they’d be home around five! Quick pack the canoes we’re leaving!” Oceans phone started to buzz. It was her mum!

“Hi mum” Ocean said nervously

“Hi Honey. There’s been a change in plans your father and I will be home in the morning, we’re staying in a hotel on the other side of the island” Blabbed on mum.

“Oh ok then. See you when you get home! Love you bye” Replied a relieved Ocean

“Bye honey love you” Said mum.

The girls were relieved. Even though their parents were not coming home tonight, they still went back home the night was getting cold.

When they got home they cleaned down their canoes. They packed anything else that they would need for tomorrow but on their houseboat... Not their parents... Their houseboat. But there was no way in the history of things that they got in trouble for would be that they sunk their canoes trying to take chairs and tables to a secret island hut that they were building for years. They planned that they would still take their canoes but only fill them with little things and tow it out at the back of their boat.

Another morning waking up at the crack of dawn, their mum and dad text to let them know that they would be back in the afternoon.

“You know what that means Ocean” Informed Nevada “Another full on day of working!”

Ocean laughed. She walked off and started the boat. They sped off out to the island. Another hard day of work awaited them.

From seven in the morning to two in the afternoon, both were determined to finish the hut today which is the reason why they worked non-stop!

“Ah finally it’s finished!” Shrieked Ocean. “We started at 15 years of age, and finished at 18 years of a- Nevada?” She looked around and realised she was talking to the wind. “Nevada!” She shouted “Ok stop playing tricks on me!” The boat was still there so she couldn’t have left, and they didn’t bring their diving gear.

“Oh I’m so stupid she’s probably bouncing around on the trampolines inside I’ll go sneak up on her.” She thought. So she walked across the bridge, climbed up the ladder and tip toed up the stairs, to find that Nevada wasn’t on the trampolines. She bounced through and saw Nevada lying unconscious under a trampoline.

“Nevada!” She yelled to the top of her lungs. She pulled her out and layed her down on a trampoline. “Are you ok! Come on wake up wake up!”

Nevada’s eyes flickered she had enough strength to say…

“Ocean... we did it” Ocean looked at her “Also I want to say…” Ocean was anticipating what was coming next “BUZZ SHO!” It was a trick! Nevada was perfectly fine she was just playing Ocean. Buzz Sho is something that they always say to each other when they play a prank.

“Woah you really had me there Nevada!” Boomed Ocean. The two laughed joked around about it for ages. Playing around the hut and going up and down the slide for hours. Time ticked by the girls fell asleep on the gel bed on level four. None thought to check the time before having a nap. It was five o’clock!

(Meanwhile Back on Land)

“Ocean, Nevada we have a surprise for you!” Shouted Shania. With no response their parental instinct kicked in. A quick look around the house and there were no sign of Ocean or Nevada, quick run around the town still no sign. They dialled 679 for the police to keep an eye out for them. Only noticing just now that the girls house boat had been launched and was out somewhere in the ocean. Patrol boats, big boats and helicopters searched the ocean. Which was really unnecessary since the island was only an hour away from land.

(Meanwhile Back on island)

Nevada was awoken by sounds of a helicopter in the nearby in the sky.

Along with building all of those hallways with the trampolines, mirrors and other things they brought technology to the island by putting a humongous blanket over the whole entire building that could turn it invisible. Nevada woke up Ocean and asked her to help put the invisible blanket over the roof.

Activating the blanket the hut became out of sight. Although the houseboat docked near the island was not covered. Boats and canoes were called out to the island. Sirens and helicopter propellers were extremely loud.

Before arriving to the island a rescue canoe saw the girl’s canoes near rocks a few kilometers from the island. How could the canoes have gotten so far away from the houseboat? Maybe aliens untied them and used it to go fishing. Maybe a mermaid stole their boat to use it for her

kingdom! Or maybe they just didn’t tie it to the back of the boat tightly and it drifted away, which was actually what happened.

“The houseboat!” Gasped Ocean. Ducking down trying to avoid the bright lights beaming from the helicopter they sprinted to the houseboat. Patrol boats and police boats arrived, police officers rushed onto the boat. Ocean pretended to be shocked from their arrival, while Nevada ran down to her bedroom and started playing a video game.

“Hello officers what can I help you with today?” Asked Ocean in a sweet voice.

“Haha” Laughed Officer Acer in a deep voice “That won’t work on me honey! Your parents have been worrying about you for hours! You’re coming with us!” Ocean frowned.

The next morning the girls woke up at home in their warm and cozy beds, completely forgetting what had happened the night before. The girls were always so in sync, they both walked down stairs expecting Shania to have their usual buffet breakfast ready. Instead they were greeted by the evil wrath of their parents.

“On our tenth wedding anniversary we didn’t really have, growling our daughters for going on a little joy ride in our house boat the night before on our to do list!” Lectured Suade.

“Your dad is right!” Shouted Shania “We had going snorkeling and spending the day out on our houseboat! But we can’t do that now!” She continued. For half the morning it was just arguing and shouting.

“Well now that, that is done... Go get your own breakfast” Finished Shania. Ocean was in tears, when Nevada just sat there feeling disappointed.

“They didn’t even get to see what we built for them.” Whispered Nevada.

“We need to make a plan to get them to the island instead of going to the restaurant”  So they did...

Nevada ninja, and Ocean potion (Their code names) caught their mum and dad sitting on the couch watching t.v. They carefully tip toed behind them, slowly raising their hands high into the air... Until...  

WAPPOW!!!

“A hard whack across the neck should do it” Nevada shouted. Shania and Suade fell unconscious. Ocean and Nevada felt bad, but they thought about it like, doing it for love. They managed to change their clothes to dads sharp suit and mums adorable dress. They looked perfect. While walking outside they were scared that if they dragged them people would get suspicious, so like any other smart people would do, they used all their weight and pretended to piggy bank them to the boat.

“Yay this is so much fun!” Ocean shouted running outside with Shania on her back.

“Having fun daddy?” Nevada said to her sleeping dad on her back. Reaching the boat they both fell to the floor tired as pigs. Nevada ran to the control room and launched the boat. Ocean sat in the bedroom and started to hear moaning. She ran up to where their mum and dad were sitting. Suade woke up and at first sight said

“Ocean?” She screamed, then raising her leg in slow motion and giving Suade a good kick in the belly. Looking afraid she ran upstairs.

(S) Finally they arrived back to the island Nevada dragged Suade off the boat when Ocean piggybacked her mum off the boat again.

“Isn’t this fun mum!” Said Ocean

“Ocean we don’t have to do that anymore” Shouted Nevada

“OK” Replied Ocean. She completely dropped Shania and started dragging her along the cool sand.

They laid them both down on the gel bed while they spent a few hours on their romantic plan for Shania and Suade.

They both awoke from their sleep with a massive migraine. They had both been placed sitting on chair in front of a brown antique table. With heart shaped lanterns and chocolate roses all around they suddenly had a smile on their faces. Even though they had no idea where they were, they tried to keep a smile on their faces while they were together.

After having their dinner still in fright the girls came out of the shadows to surprise them and tell them about...

• What they had been building for many years
• What they did to them
• What happened the night they didn’t come home

It was all pretty breezy after everyone talked about many different things. Everyone was happy and Shania and Suade had an amazing fantastic 10th Wedding Anniversary.

From that day their family never went to fancy motels or hotels anymore, the island was always their go to place. For years no one knew about the island as they forgot to take of the invisible blanket!
