This is my recount about the ANZAC memorial assembly we had last Friday on Poppy Day.

Last week on Friday was Poppy Day. On Friday the whole school had a memorial assembly. When the bell rang everyone started to go to hall. Mr Burt changed up the assembly, but I really wanted to go to the field of remembrance that we have outside by the hall.

When assembly finished all of the children went in groups moving out of the hall so that there wouldn't be a traffic jam of kids. It went from year one, to year two to year three, all the way up to year eights.

Once we all gathered around the memorial Mr Burt and the other prefects said prayers. But Mary did the ode and spoke it maori, it was amazing. It was also very sunny that morning so that was great as well. After a few prayers had been said everyone stood around where we then had a minute of silence.

Then afterwards everyone made their way back to their class where we then carried on with our day that had a beautiful start.
